                           on:     Diacony  and  Diaconate

for as many as people as possible, worldwide!

This website
1) enables deacons and diaconal workers - catholic, protestant, Greek and
    Russian orthodox - worldwide
    - to (virtually) meet others working in similar conditions;
    - to create useful contacts;
    - to share and exchange experiences;
    - to feel no longer "alone" in problematic situations that, unfortunately, exist everywhere;
    - to remain updated on worldwide activities by means of our buttons:
      NEWS, agenda, books/reviews, articles.

Tell each other - and tell us - which problems you encounter, what your needs are.
Learn each other, from your own experience, how to handle certain problems.

We are creating a team of experts in the theology and practice of the diaconate.

2) offers people interested in the formation for the diaconate:
    - information on what diaconate is all about;
    - the possibility to study an online course on permanent diaconate offered by Ushaw College,
      United Kingdom.

Communication is offered by our virtual Forum

The Prayer of Saint Ephrem the Syrian

"O Lord and Master of my life,
keep from me the spirit of indifference and discouragement,
lust of power and idle chatter.
(kneel/prostration)

Instead, grant to me, Your servant,
the spirit of wholeness of being,
humble-mindedness, patience, and love.
(kneel/prostration)

O Lord and King, grant me the grace to be aware of
my sins and not to judge my brother,
for You are blessed now and ever and forever.
Amen."
(kneel/prostration)

Saint Ephrem the Syrian was a deacon in the 4th century.
This prayer of Saint Ephrem is an important prayer for Eastern rite and Eastern Orthodox during Lent (as well as on any day of fasting). At the end of each verse, it is traditional to kneel or to make a prostration, which is when you kneel and then place your head to the floor. After the prostration, you should arise before reciting the next verse.
Eastern Christians say this prayer several times per day during Lent.
